So IF you have a lot of patience, it's good. you can also draw/mark on the map as in multiplayer battles, alowing you to convey tactics/positioning to your ally. in battles you can give control of some units to your ally, however i didn't find this very useful aside from giving control of 2-3 units of harassing horse-cav to my ally in legendary mode (cause you can't pause in that during battles). the goal is to conquer many provinces together. the other mode, co-op, has you both in a permanent alliance. in this mode you can also select to play as the AI in any battles the other player plays, this means the AI-dumbness in battles is gone and the player's are much more responsible for every battle outcome. in head to head the other player is your goal, eliminate him to win. The battles keep in mind there's two modes head to head, and co-op. If you have something to talk about or multitask or give advice on the other, then that can help.
